Dryer Vent Cleaning
Clothes lint is flammable. Every time you use your dryer, the dryer vent gets another layer of flammable lint. Since most of us use our dryers regularly, we recommend yearly cleaning for nearly all dryer vents to reduce the potential of fire hazard. Dirty dryer vents unfortunately cause many home fires every year. The solution is simple and surprisingly affordable.
Your dryer vent cleaning appointment will begin with me arriving on time. Next I will listen to you explain your needs or concerns to me. Many times my customers will call simply because they want to keep their vent free from flammable lint and increase the efficiency of their dryer. Sometimes I’ll hear that their dryer is taking too long, causing concern about overworking their dryer resulting in a possible fire, as well as running up the electric bill.
Whatever your reason, I will listen intently to your concerns. Then I will explain the cleaning process to you and begin work when I’m sure you understand what to expect and are comfortable. I’ll start by checking proper and safe operation of your dryer and looking for any obvious areas of concern. This could include broken or disconnected vent ducts, connecting hoses, and termination caps. These are all things that I will be able to repair for you if you so desire.
Cleaning of your dryer vent consists of disconnecting your dryer from electricity and the flexible connecting hose from the vent. Next I perform two full passes inside the entire length of your vent using a rotating brush the same size as your vent. All the while I have a powerful vacuum system connected to your vent which removes all the lint that I scrub free from your vent. The lint always goes into the vacuum and NEVER outside or on your roof. This means your vent gets scrubbed and vacuumed clean from top to bottom in the case of a rooftop vent, or front to back, in the case of a side-mounted vent. Lastly, I will go to where your vent terminates and thoroughly clean the cap. This is something that I do without fail, which means that I always clean rooftop vent caps as well as caps mounted to the side of your home.
When I have finished your vent will be as good as new and ready for you to use right away!
